Terraced Ponds: Harwich Port, MA
The design of this water feature centered around bringing the feature up close to an existing outdoor living space while taking advantage of a gentle slope leading away from the patio. A series of three ponds are connected by two small falls that gently cascade into the pond below. The edges of the water feature have been contoured and are planted with a variety of perennials, flowering shrubs and trees to provide seasonal interest and scale to the installation. At the bottom of the feature is a dry stream bed that leads away from the pond, serving as a design element as well as functional overflow outlet in the event of a heavy rainstorm. The three ponds are home to an average of 30-40 koi fish.
