Nantucket Sound Landscape: Osterville, MA
The key to the design of this Osterville landscape was to enhance the truly unique character that the lot possesses. Running 600′ from the home to the Sound, the lot is long and narrow, running no more than 80′ from side to side. Therefore, it was critical to open up and maintain the view from the house down to the sound while creating a landscape that would both provide function and aesthetic appeal. In addition to extensive border plantings, hardscape features such as granite walls intentionally constructed to resemble a traditional New England farm wall and a biomorphic goshen stone patio serve as points of interest and transition as well as places to gather and reflect.
